Over the years there has been many people who have gone on to a life in the professional theatre, either stage, film or television.  The following are just a few of these, showing them appearing in an IODS show.  Apologies to anyone not included.  We hope to add to this page as more photographs become available.

 

                                                             YVONNE CHAPLIN

And as he appeared on the front of the programme for the 1963 production of 'West Side Story'
 

Along with his twin brother, David appeared in many professional shows throughout the country.  They also featured as 'Yellow Coats' in the t.v. series 'Hi Di Hi'.   David is currently 'the author's' favourite presenter on BBC Radio Suffolk!

              

        IAN SMITH

    CAROL WILDEN (blonde dancer at front)

 Pantomimes at Ipswich Theatre and also choreographed

Margaret worked with Cyril Fletcher in pantomime.  She also conducted choirs of all nationalities in Kenya and Tanzania, radio and television in Nigeria and arranged the first Musical Festival in West Africa

    

          DENNIS PENNOCK
seen here in the 1971 production of 'Kismet'

Dennis toured theatres in the north as a solo act, in addition to appearing with Jim Dale and Barry Took.
He also sung with the Joe Loss Orchestra on television.

                  GRAHAM HUBBARD
 as the Artful Dodger in our 1980 production of 'Oliver'

 Graham took up a career on the professional stage and appeared
 in two West End Productions:-
             'Children of Eden' and 'Mack & Mabel'

 

 

                                                    VINCE REDMON
                                          appearing in 'Oklahoma' : 1981

  Seen here with Margaret Mudd as Curly and Laurey in the Dream Ballet

                                               Vince joined a national ballet company.

                                              Gary joined the Royal Ballet and has enjoyed an illustrious career
                                              worldwide.
             

 

SARAH BRAY
(played 'Maria' in West Side Story at the Wolsey Theatre)

Also followed a career on the professional stage and has taken leads in several Number 1 touring productions.  This photograph shows Sarah playing 'Calamity' in the current touring production of Calamity Jane (2003)

 

Three others for which unfortunately we do not have photographs:
       James McInnis - Went on to R.A.D.A.
       Frank Forbes    - Appeared at the Ipswich Arts Theatre and joined Scottish Radio
       Sharon Airey    -  Cabaret

BEHIND THE FOOTLIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We mustn't forget those who have gone on to make a name for themselves in the world of the professional theatre - this time 'behind the footlights'

TRACEY HADDOCK            :         Has worked on numerous productions throughout the U.K.,
                                                            including Deputy Stage Manager on National No.1 tours.

JAMES GOMEZ                    :         A very talented Properties Maker, who has worked in the
                                                            professional theatrical world both in the U.K. and abroad -
                                                            including undertaking work for the famous Millennium Dome!
